Congratulations to Paul Clarke, who is a student at St. Paul's College Raheny on winning this Years BT Young Scientist of the Year Award. This year is the 50th anniversary of the Young Scientist competition and the biggest yet and the judges said it was the highest standard to date. Paul's project on “Contributions to cyclic graph theory” really impressed the judges and is a major contribution to the world of mathematics. Congratulations to St Paul's College and teacher Dr. Brian Smyth. Congratulations also to Paul's proud parents. Paul's father Des is a member of the Raheny Heritage Society.

Raheny Heritage Society meetings recommence after a busy summer.

The Raheny Heritage Society would like to welcome back all our members after the summer break. Our first Family History meeting will be on the 10th September, followed by our first Local History meeting on the 24th September. We would like to thank all our members who assisted at and visited our stand at this years Rose Festival in Saint Anne's Park. Also a special thanks to Joan Sharkey for leading our Heritage Week Event around the follies in Saint Anne's Park and for all those who assisted. Hope you can join us at either our meetings or talks over the coming months. New members always welcome.

National Heritage Week 2012 Event Registrati​on Now Open

This weeks National Heritage Week runs from 18th to the 26th August 2012. All events must be registered by 31st May for inclusion in the National Event Guide which is distributed throughout Ireland and Europe. This year the weeks kicking off with a Built Heritage Day. The aim is to highlight the rich and varied built heritage that Ireland has to offer and to encourage all owners of historic buildings to open their doors to the public during National Heritage Week. New book and museum on Bram Stoker launched

Denis McIntyre recented lauched his latest book "Bram Stoker and the Irishness of Dracula" at the Bram Stoker Hotel on Clontarf Road. Joe Duffy did the honours on the night to a packed house. A new Bram Stoker Museum and Cinema in the hotel were also officially opened on the night. Check it out!

Raheny Heritage Society congratulate Raheny Library on its 40th Anniversary

This week Raheny Library celebrated its 40th Anniversary. Many members of the Raheny Heritage Society participated in the festivities. Terri & the Library staff arranged a wonderful evening with music, singing and food. The Lord Mayor Naoise O Muirí attended and joined in the celebrations.

This April we celebrate the centenary of the death of Bram Stoker. Raheny Heritage Society in conjunction with the Clontarf Historical Society will kick off the Centenary Year celebrations with 'A Grand Soiree' in the birthplace of Bram Stoker.

Raheny Heritage Society organises Bram Stoker Centenary Reception

As part of the Bram Stoker Centenary Events, the Raheny Heritage Society will host a "Centenary Reception" in The Crypt, Christ Church Cathedral on Saturday 7th July. This week is a week of celebration of Bram Stoker, with various events organised and also a Stoker Family gathering in Dublin. The reception will be held in the atmospheric 12th century Crypt, underneath Christ Church Catherdral, the oldest structure in Dublin City. The Lord Mayor will be in attendance and will present Certificates of Irish Heritage to members of the Stoker Family who have travelled from the USA and UK. Invitation only. This event is supported by the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht.
