Raheny Heritage Society and Raheny Library will be holding their annual Ray Wickham lecture on Wednesday 3rd June at 6.30pm in Raheny Library.
The speaker will be Seán Byrne and his topic is titled: “ The 1937 Schools Folklore Collection: A Treasure of World Memory”.
Séan is Lecturer Emeritus in Economics Technological University Dublin. He has transcribed the folklore collected in many schools for the Dúchas project to make the collection available online and has published a paper on the folklore collected in the schools in the parish of Westmeath in which he grew up.
